I absolutely love what I do, and have the best clients who are motivated, aware and engaged. I specialize in the science of relationship therapy, helping Portlanders better understand, approach and enjoy relationships and their role in keeping them strong. Whether you are partnered, single, unsure if your relationship is working, increasing commitment or exiting relational ties, challenges exist at every stage and I can help you increase satisfaction and advocate for your needs. Another passion I have is working with those unfulfilled with work and career, and looking for meaningful change. I am currently accepting new clients and offer individual, couples/partnership and pre-commitment/premarital counseling in addition to workshops.
A marriage and family therapist and professional counselor trained in the Gottman Method, I help clients figure out what feels wrong in their relationship, how to negotiate these valid needs and emotions, manage conflict, accept influence, create boundaries and repair wounds to help them to get back on track. I also incorporate discussions of social status, power and privilege when I identify disparities in these as influencing relationships. I empower my clients to advocate for trust, honesty and openness in their relational bonds. Using both traditional and progressive methods based on decades of research, I teach clients predictors of breakup and how to avoid them, and how to adopt behaviors that instead lead to highly satisfying, connected relationships to help guide partners to build trust, pleasure and enjoyment. Even if your relationship has taken a sharp turn for the worst, this experience can provide valuable information and often leads to even deeper connection and shared meaning. Sound like a lot to ask? You and your partner deserve it.
My therapy is secular and non-religious unless otherwise requested. I am LGBTQIA, POC and poly/kink-inclusive.
